Purpose of Course:

The purpose of the Advanced Robotic and Engineering Technology course is to extend and build on the skills and knowledge of students who have completed the introductory robotics course.

Course Description:

Advanced Robotics and Engineering Technology is built around the extensive understanding of robotic systems and the development of workplace competencies. The main focus of the class involves solving engineering design problems. Students enrolled in this course will prepare and compete in regional FIRST Robotics Competitions at the highest level.

  • Identify, formulate solutions for, and solve engineering technology problems using engineering design processes
  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and technology to solve robotic engineering technology problems
  • Function on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Communicate effectively using various forms of communications
  • Describe various methods used to manage and schedule projects
  • Participate in and/or conduct design reviews  
  • Collect, analyze and interpret data
  • Create 3D CAD parts and assemblies with SolidWorks software
  • Build large scale robotic systems from solid model designs
  • Design and Develop robotics electrical and control system
  • Program robotic controls with Java framework
