Raven update for the week of 9/21
Prevention and Resources / AB 2246

Prevention and Resources / AB 2246

Dear Raven Families,

Each year, in compliance with Assembly Bill 2246, we train our staff, students, and parents about protective factors to reduce the risk of suicide and we provide resources to contribute to student wellness.

Please take the time to review our Prevention and Resources Video and slides to learn more about suicide risk factors, warning signs, and protective factors, as well as how to talk and respond appropriately to students who may be at risk. Our staff has already been trained on these resources this fall.

On Friday, September 25, teachers will present this information to all CCA students in their Homeroom classes. CCA Counselors and our Student Support Team will be available should any student need additional support or resources.

The following additional resources may be helpful in learning more about risk factors, warning signs, and prevention:

  • If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, call 911 or the San Diego Access & Crisis Line 888-724-7240.
    • Behavioral Health Emergency Contact Police/Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) - Call 9-1-1
    • Child Protective Services 858-560-2191/800-344-6000
    • Emergency Screening Unit (ESU) 619-421-6900

Thank you,

CCA Administration and Student Support Team
12th Grade Presentation UPDATE

12th Grade Presentation UPDATE

12th Grade Ravens Families,

We are very excited to have you join our 12th Grade Parent Presentation this evening Wednesday, September 16 from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. In order to accommodate for more families to view, we have moved our presentation to Zoom.  As there is a limit of 300 logins, we will also provide a livestream for those who are not able to access the Zoom. The livestream link will be posted promptly at 5:00 pm on the Counseling Website and will also be recorded and emailed to you.  Please note that we are only able to answer questions in the Zoom presentation, not via livestream.  We encourage you to have your student reach out to their counselor via email or during their office hours if additional questions arise.

12th Grade Presentation via livestream (to be posted on the Counseling Website at 5pm)

Thank you and we look forward to "seeing" you this evening!

Raven update for the week of 9/14/20
12th Grade Counseling Presentations

12th Grade Counseling Presentations

Dear 12th Grade Raven Families,

We will be offering 12th Grade Counseling Presentations to help students and parents navigate the college application process next week. Student presentations will be held via google meet on Monday, September 14th, Tuesday, September 15th, and Wednesday, September 16th from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

Students are assigned a presentation date to attend based on their last name as follows (meet links included):

Please note these google meets will only be open to students and must be accessed while logged into students’ SDUHSD email accounts.

A corresponding parent presentation will be held via google meet and livestream on Wednesday, September 16 from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. The livestream link will be posted promptly at 5:00 pm on the Counseling Website, and will also be recorded and emailed to you.

In both the student and parent presentations, CCA Counselors will cover topics such as: finalizing a balanced college list, using the Common Application portal, applying to CSU, UC and private & out-of-state schools, as well as how to request related documents (school reports, letters of recommendation, and transcripts). The presentation is posted to the Counseling Webpage for students and parents to reference links and slides prior to the first presentation date.

Reminder: we encourage students to attend the presentation prior to submitting or requesting any application documents as many Frequently Asked Questions and tutorial links are covered within the presentation. For individual questions and planning, students may attend daily virtual walk-in hours, or set up a one-on-one meeting with their counselor after the senior presentation.

We look forward to supporting you during your senior year!
