Four Year Plan

Some students want to create an overall four-year plan for their courses throughout high school. To do so, students should consider their individual interests, abilities and motivation. Colleges seek individuals whose records reflect genuine interests and endeavors. Students may customize a flexible four-year plan that can be updated at any time as they complete coursework and pursue extra-curricular activities.Students may use this Four-Year Plan template to enter courses (you must first save the template to your computer and then edit and save it or you can print a copy and write on it). If you are not able to access this version via your computer, you can access it at CCA or we will be happy to print you one for your use. Counselors can also assist in refining the plan as students progress through each grade level. To begin, there are several important things that both students and parents need to do:
  1. Review SDUHSD Graduation Requirements. You can check student "Graduation Status" and current grades at any time by logging in to the AERIES PORTAL.
  2. Review a summary of College Admission Requirements. When creating a four-year plan, students should strive for a balance where they are challenged but not overwhelmed. This balance should be based on each individual student.
  3. Register for Naviance. In Naviance, students may access "Do What You Are" and other learning style and career inventories which will assist students in exploring college and career options based on their personality and interests. Students can also search for specific colleges to see admission requirements and make sure to incorporate the necessary courses. As students hone their interests over time, they can adjust the 4-year plan so that is directly related to what they hope to do after high school. The more effort a student puts into using Naviance, the better developed his or her plan will become!
